Andre Santos ruled out for 3 months

Arsenal‘s injury woes refuse to end! After losing players like Jack Wilshere, Bacary Sagna and Abou Diaby due to injuries, summer signing Andre Santos has joined the bandwagon after being ruled out for 3 months following a damaged ligament in his right ankle during last week’s 3-1 Champions League defeat to Greek outfit Olympiakos.

The 28-year-old Brazilian, who joined the Emirates outfit earlier this season for £6.2million from Turkish club Fenerbahce, will undergo surgery in his homeland this week and is set to be sidelined for three months.

A club statement read:

“Arsenal Football Club can confirm that, following investigations and subsequent medical opinions by Club specialists, left-back Andre Santos will have surgery to repair ligament damage in his right ankle sustained in the game against Olympiakos last week.

“Andre will have surgery in Brazil this week and is expected to be out for around three months. Everyone at the Club wishes him well.”

Arsenal had to start with Djourou and Vermaelen on either full back position in the weekend match against Everton. With the January transfer window near, manager Arsene Wenger might be forced to buy a full back to overcome the loss of Kieran Gibbs, Bacary Sagna and Carl Jenkinson, all out injured at the moment.
