Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina has signed for Arsenal

Premier League club Arsenal have officially signed Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina on a long term contract. The fee was undisclosed.

The 25-year-old impressed at the recently concluded FIFA World Cup in Brazil and was instrumental in helping Colombia reach the quarter-final.

Ospina played for Ligue 1 club Nice and made a total of 189 appearances in the six seasons he played there. The goalkeeper also has 49 international caps.

Wenger: He is an excellent goalkeeper

Gunners manager Arsene Wenger was all praise for the shot stopper and said: “David Ospina is an excellent goalkeeper, with good experience and a proven record of performing with Nice and Colombia.

“He will add strength to our squad and we are very pleased that he will be joining us.”

Ospina is expected to make his first appearance for the North London club when they play in the Emirates Cup (a pre-season tournament) in the first week of August (2nd and 3rd). His squad number has not been revealed yet.

He will be fighting for a spot on the team sheet with Wojciech Szczesny
