Manchester United winger Ashley Young talks about the bird poo incident

Was that really bird poo that went into Ashley Young’s mouth?

Everybody has seen the video where a bird (most likely a pigeon) may have defecated directly into Ashley Young’s mouth.

The incident took place when Manchester United played Swansea at Old Trafford on the opening day of the Premier League season.

While viewers scrunched up their faces in disgust or laughed their head off, Young himself did not react in any way.

But in a recent interview with Soccer AM, the 29-year-old winger spoke about the incident and the mystery behind it.

The final question posed to Young was, “What does bird poo taste like?”

Young replied: “I couldn't tell you. I need to put it out there, I don't actually know. I don't know what happened.”

He went on to say that if it was indeed bird poo, he would have reacted in a different manner.

“You would have seen a reaction from me. I've seen the video about 100 times.

“I don't know what it was. I need to get to the bottom of it.”

As if the internet having a good time with memes and jokes wasn’t enough for Young, his teammates took it a step further by playing a prank on him.

“After it actually happened - I don't know who it was and I need to get to the bottom of this as well - above my locker there was a pigeon put up.

“I walked in and thought 'Oh, no!'.

“And that was it, everyone started taking pictures of it. Everyone think it actually happened. I don't know, I couldn't tell you.”
