Athletic Bilbao reject Manchester United's €36 million bid for Ander Herrera

Ander Herrera of Atheltic Bilbao
Athletic Bilbao have declined an offer of €36 million from Manchester United for their midfielder Ander Herrera, the Spanish club confirmed on its official website.
This will come as a shock to Manchester United fans and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward alike as the player was being seen as the first step to the rebuilding process undertaken by new manager Louis van Gaal.
Major media outlets in Spain and England were earlier unanimous in proclaiming it as a done deal with some even stating the player had a tour of Manchester United’s training ground, the AON complex.

Manchester United were slated to present Herrera as a Manchester United player on Friday were but the deal been delayed due to some ‘technical problem’.

The prolonged transfer saga of Ander Herrera from Spanish club Athletic Bilbao to Manchester United has been no less than a roller coaster ride for the Old Trafford faithful which has started on an embarrassing note on deadline day last season.

The 24-year old midfielder helped Atletico Bilbao to a Champions League spot last season scoring 5 goals and assisting in another 5.

Guillem Balague, renowned Spanish sports journalist had earlier tweeted that the deal had hit a technical snag.
