British actor Tim Roth to play FIFA chief Sepp Blatter in upcoming movie

Tim Roth has been cast to play Sepp Blatter

British actor Tim Roth has played many a memorable role in his lifetime, characters that will be long remembered by movie buffs everywhere.

Amongst his best would be Mr. Orange (Reservoir Dogs), Pumpkin (Pulp Fiction) and even Thade (the evil ape in the 2001 movie ‘Planet of the Apes’). He is now all set to undertake a role that has defined how football has travelled for a good part of the last decade, as he has been cast to play FIFA president Sepp Blatter in the upcoming movie ‘F2014′, as per reports from the Metro.

The film will be released around FIFA’s marquee event, the World Cup, next year and is meant to coincide with FIFA’s own 110th anniversary. The film also features Gerard Depardieu who will be playing the role of Jules Rimet. And the movie seems to have the stamp of approval from football’s international body.

“The casting was well done,” said Blatter

“Tim Roth was quite surprised to meet me but we have some, let’s say, common qualities. I have to say it was a very interesting get-together. I was very eager to meet him and I have just realised we have something in common.”

Listening to those words from Blatter, it will be indeed curious to see what exactly those common qualities are and how they help Roth in his portrayal of the man from Switzerland who has managed to stay the head of international football for as long as one can remember.
