Berlin, June 28 (IANS) German football club Wolfsburg announced the signing of defender Jeffrey Bruma from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven.

Wolfsburg reinforced their team after the departure of defender and skipper Naldo, who joined Schalke recently, as Jeffrey Bruma inked a five-year deal to stay with the Wolves until June 2021, reports Xinhua.

"We are pleased that Jeffrey has opted for Wolfsburg. He comes with the self-confidence of winning the Dutch championship to us, he also knows the Bundesliga from his time at Hamburg and has already gained a lot of international experience," Wolfsburg's sporting director Klaus Allofs said.

"We are confident that he will quickly become an important cornerstone in our squad."

The 24-year-old centre back played the last three years at Eindhoven where he made 94 appearances to score seven goals. He is since 2010, part of the Dutch national team where he scored one goal in 19 caps.

"Since my time at Hamburg it was clear to me that I want to play in the Bundesliga again because it is one of Europe's top leagues. In the three years at PSV I have gained a lot of experience, now it is time for the next step," Wolfsburg new arrival Bruma told the club's official homepage.

Wolfsburg will have to focus on domestic matters, as Dieter Hecking's men completed the Bundesliga season on the eighth place of the standings.
