Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid’s coach, highlighted the importance of keeping Cristiano Ronaldo happy on the pitch by having him choose where he wants to take on.

Ancelotti told the gathered media: “Cristiano needs to play in the position that he wants to. I will not change his position because he is comfortable in his usual position. He is the one who has to choose where he plays on the pitch.”

Ancelotti made it clear that the forward needs to play where he feels the most comfortable after Ronaldo stated earlier that he enjoys a freer role, then playing as a center forward.

Real Madrid beat Los Angeles Galaxy 3-1 in a pre-season friendly match, where Ronaldo played as a second striker, behind Kaka. Although in the previous two games against Lyon and Paris St Germain, he played in a more central role.

Karim Benzema scored twice against the Los Angeles Galaxy after Angel Di Maria gave Madrid a first-half lead. Whereas, Jose Villarreal was the lone scorer for the Galaxies.

Ancelotti was happy with the partnership between the two players who scored and said: “They both played well and scored, but the fundamental thing was that we wanted to play in a compact way, and the team did that.

“It was a good game for us. Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka also played well together and created a number of chances.

“On the whole, we played very well. I’m very satisfied, we tried to play good football, and that’s the most important thing for me.”
