Cristiano Ronaldo set to earn 20 million euros for doing next to nothing

Cristiano Ronaldo is the highest-paid footballer in the world.

Real Madrid icon Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly found a way to make more money. Ace Hollywood director Martin Scorsese’ s new movie, The Manipulator, will be using Ronaldo’ s penthouse apartment in New York as a shooting location and the film producers are willing to pay €20 million for the privilege, according to the Mirror.

The 30-year-old is the highest paid footballer on the planet and deservedly so, given the fact that he entertains millions of people with his exceptional talent. But there are some things we can't help but be bitterly jealous about.

The former Manchester United player was due to feature in Scorcese's upcoming film and his penthouse apartment is believed to be used by the producers during the shooting of the same. As part of the deal, he was due to be given a small role in the film but the man on whom the film is based on has vetoed Ronaldo’s involvement.

Alessandro Proto, who’s an Italian millionaire, was said to be worried that the Portuguese would draw attention away from himself and the story. In principle, Ronaldo was initially expected to receive €10 million for being ditched at the last minute, but with the help of his lawyers, he has eventually doubled the figure.

The settlement with the lawyers will now see him earn €20 million for getting dropped and for literally doing nothing.

I do not want Ronaldo in the movie: Alessandro Proto

"Ronaldo is a great player, but that doesn't mean he is the king of the world," said Proto, on whom the best-selling novel ‘50 Shades of Grey’ is supposedly based on.

"I don't want him in a film about my life. Martin Scorsese is in agreement with me.”

“Cristiano Ronaldo is not going to be in the film.”

"I am sorry if he doesn't feel valued, but in life you win some and you lose some.”

“If I really have to give him €20million, I will give it to him with my own hands."

The director of the film has revealed that he regrets to break the news out to the Real Madrid star, but he has backed Proto’s decision to not include Ronaldo in the film for various reasons.

“We’re sorry Cristiano has taken the removal of his role from The Manipulator badly, but in life you need to know how to lose as well.” Scorsese said.

“The movie is based on the real life of Italian impresario Alessandro Proto, and it seems appropriate that he should have a say in matters.”

“If Alessandro doesn’t want Cristiano in the movie, then it seems fine that Cristiano won’t be in it.”
