Cristiano Ronaldo set to become father for second time

Ronaldo may have hinted that he is planning the surrogacy of a second child while celebrating a goal against Celta Vigo.

Reports have emerged from Portugal that Cristiano Ronaldo travelled to the United States over Christmas in order to arrange the surrogacy of a second child. Ronaldo became a father to his son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr in 2010 via surrogacy, and according to Correio da Manha and Flash! Vidas, the player has now pushed through all the necessary paperwork in order to again contract the services of a surrogate mother.

The reports from Portugal suggest that Ronaldo left his son under the care of his mother in December in order to travel to Miami and arrange the surrogacy. Ronaldo also hinted he may be set to become a father again when he celebrated a goal against Celta Vigo by putting the ball underneath his shirt, a common celebration made by players who are expecting to become fathers.

Ronaldo announced the birth of Cristiano Jr via Twitter six years ago, where he said he had become the father of a son and would be the sole guardian of the child.

"It is with great joy and emotion that I inform I have recently become a father to a baby boy,” he stated. “As agreed with the baby’s mother, who prefers to have her identity kept confidential, my son will be under my exclusive guardianship. I request everyone to fully respect my right to privacy (and that of the child) at least on issues as personal as these are."

Ronaldo Jr was picked up from an unknown hospital in Florida

Ronaldo’s mother Dolores said in her 2014 biography that her son had told her he was planning to have a child and that he wanted her assistance in raising him. She said she picked up Cristiano Jr from an unknown hospital in Florida while Ronaldo was playing in the 2010 World Cup.

Ronaldo revealed in an interview with FHM magazine last year that he hoped to become the father of “five or six” more children, and demonstrated the close relationship he has with his son in his self-titled documentary which was released last year.

Despite leading the race for the Pichichi in La Liga, the Portuguese captain missed a penalty in last night’s international friendly against Bulgaria which resulted in a 1-0 loss to Portugal.
