Cristiano Ronaldo wishes to reunite with Carlo Ancelotti in the future

Cristiano Ronaldo worked with Carlo Ancelotti for two seasons at Real Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo has heaped praise on former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti saying that every player should have a chance to work under the Italian. He also admitted that he wished to work with Ancelotti again sometime in the future.

The 56-year-old manager was at the helm of the Blancos for two seasons from 2013 to 2015, where he led them to their 10th Champions League crown – La Decima – in his first season and also helped them win the Copa Del Rey. However, after the club failed to win any trophy in Ancelotti’s second season, he was relieved from his duty as manager and replaced with Rafa Benitez.

Ronaldo had a stellar first season under the ex-Milan coach when he scored 51 goals in 48 games which included 17 goals in a single Champions League campaign. The Portuguese forward carried his goal scoring form into the next season as well, as he scored 48 goals in 35 appearances in La Liga and another 10 goals in the Champions League. However, the relationship between the two ended when Ancelotti was ousted from the club.

Ronaldo initially thought Ancelotti was arrogant

“Mr. Ancelotti was an unbelievable surprise,” Ronaldo said. “In the beginning, I though he was more a tough person, more kind of arrogant, and it was the opposite.

“He's like a big bear, I can say. He's a cute guy, such a sensitive person. He spoke with us every day. Not just with me but with all the players. He had fun with us.

“He's an unbelievable person. I just wish every player could have an opportunity to work with him because he's a fantastic guy, a fantastic coach and I miss him a lot because we won many trophies together. And I wish to work with him one day again. But now I'm good. I have a new coach and I'm happy too, but it's great I have good memories.”

The rumour mill has been linking both Ronaldo and Ancelotti with Manchester United over the past few weeks and, given the uncertainty that shadows the game of football today, it wouldn’t be a big surprise if the 3-time Ballon d’Or winner plays under the Italian again.

The Portugal captain did not draw any comparisons between the coaches he has played under and feels that every manager has a different approach towards the game and the players. He stated that he learned something from every manager and that has helped him grow into the ‘player he is today’.

“I just try to take the most important things of every coach,” he said.

“Not just Sir Alex Ferguson, but [Manuel] Pellegrini, [Jose] Mourinho, Ancelotti and now with Benitez and the national team coaches too.

“I think everyone has different styles and different opinions. They are different people. So I just pick the best things of them. I am the player that I am today because of course the coaches helped me a lot.”
