Daniel Sturridge injured again, may be sidelined for another month

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is expected to be sidelined for another month due to a calf injury he inflicted while training.

The 25-year-old was set to return in time for the game against QPR or at least, in the important Champions League fixture against Real Madrid, after being sidelined since August 30, due to a thigh injury he attained while playing for England. But scans confirmed that Sturridge pulled his calf during a training session on Thursday which may see him being sidelined further up to four weeks.

The news comes as a big blow for manager Brendan Rodgers who was looking forward to his return. But the Reds manager will have to cope up several more weeks without his star man which leaves him short of options up front with Mario Balotelli as his most likely option, who has been unconvincing so far.

Talking to Liverpool Echo Rodgers said, "Daniel has pulled his calf." "He's looking at being out for another two to four weeks."It's a big blow as we were looking forward to welcoming Daniel back. He has worked tirelessly."But we have other players training hard and working hard and we will turn to them. It's why we bulked up the squad in the summer," he concluded

Sturrdige has featured for the Anfield outfit three times this season, scoring his only goal in their season-opener against Southampton.
