David Beckham is probably the most known Englishman in the world. If you thought there was no way he could be any more perfect, we are here to tell you that you are wrong.

The former England international showed his softer side by helping a paramedic team which was waiting in the cold for an ambulance to arrive. According to BBC news cycle response paramedic, Catherine Maynard was attending to an elderly man who had taken a fall in Central London.

Ms Maynard said that Beckham who spotted the duo on the street came up to them greeted both her and the patient and then got into his car. They were pleasantly surprised when the English superstar returned with cups of hot tea and coffee to aid the duo in keeping warm.

"We were both very amused and flattered," Maynard said.

"All of a sudden, I looked up and saw someone who looked like David Beckham walking past us. He said hello and got in his car. I said to the man I was treating: 'I think that was David Beckham'.

"It was awful cycling around in the cold and I couldn't believe it when he came back with some hot drinks -- I was so chuffed."

London Ambulance Service said Beckham had shown he "respects hard-working paramedics and even a gesture as small as buying a cup of coffee makes our crew feel appreciated".

The patient was taken to hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

This news comes at a time when footballers have shown their humane side with global superstars such as Lionel Messi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic leading the way. Messi won hearts all over the world when he revealed a desire to meet his young afghan fan while Zlatan Ibrahimovic has also shown that there is a soft side to his tough exterior by reaching out to a policeman who was tragically injured in a crash while escorting the PSG team.

David Beckham, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Lionel Messi have shown that they are true champions not only on the field but off the field as well.
