Diego Maradona calls Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal a 'devil'

Diego Maradona unhappy with the way Louis van Gaal is handling Radamel Falcao

Argentine legend Diego Maradona has labelled Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal a ‘devil’, with reference to the way Dutchman is treating Colombian star striker Radamel Falcao. Maradona spoke about his thoughts on Van Gaal during a press conference in Bogota, Colombia, where he was promoting a charity match.

Maradona had the following to say about Van Gaal:

"Van Gaal is not a nice guy.

"Van Gaal is closer to the devil than anything."

When United signed Falcao from Monaco on a season-long loan deal in the beginning of the season, they might have felt that they got a world calls striker for a very reasonable deal. Although the striker was nominated for the Ballon d’Or twice before coming to United, he has not been able to replicate his sensational form, and has only scored four goals for the club.

Maradona felt the player needed time to adapt to English football, but the injury which saw him out of action for majority of last year made it harder for him to get back to his absolute best. The knee injury that Falcao suffered saw the player miss out on the World Cup last year.

"His time was cut short after the injury and he has to adapt to the move," said Maradona.

Although Falcao has been trying to prove his worth, the player has not been able to do much to prove his case. It is also highly likely that he will miss the Manchester derby this Sunday.
