Manchester United’s troubles with injuries this season continues as Michael Carrick was forced to pull out of the England squad because of a groin injury. Carrick will now miss the double header for England which also come as a personal blow as the midfielder was not selected in the world cup squad.

With Steven Gerrard’s retirement, this is Carrick’s final chance to cement his place for England.

Manager Louis van Gaal will be cursing his luck after injury has ravaged the Manchester United squad this season who hasn’t been able to select his best team yet with players getting injured a lot.

With a series of important games ahead, van Gaal will hope that he gets his players back especially his defenders. Manchester United are still some way off the top 4 and one point less than what Arsenal have at the moment.
