Ex-Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke (L) disagreed with Moyes’ appraisal of their performance

Following Manchester United’s lacklustre 2-0 defeat to Everton on Sunday, Dwight Yorke criticised their ineffective use of possession and rejected David Moyes’ assessment of the game.

The under-pressure Reds manager, in his post-match interview with Sky Sports, had this to say:

“We gave away two terrible goals.

“Prior to that we passed the ball really well, kept the ball, had great control of the game. What we couldn’t do was make enough chances.

“We had a great control and we got done by two stupid decisions – a stupid decision to dive in front of the ball for one of them – two poor goals to give away.

“I thought we played very well in the first half. We came in 2-0 down but had been passing the ball really well.

Ex-Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke disagreed with Moyes’ appraisal of their performance and highlighted the lack of “cutting edge” on display

“I think they [Man United] play with control, the stats show they have dominated the ball possession, but they’ve got nothing to show for it.

“We haven’t seen the cutting edge, the pass behind, we’re not seeing midfielders running from beyond the Everton defence.

“You’re not seeing anything, you’re not seeing end product – what Man United are used to. The pace and power – like how Everton played against them.”
