EPL Transfer Rumour: Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur interested in Javier Hernandez

Javier Hernandez
The Mexican star has found a new lease of life since joining Bayer Leverkusen

Javier Hernandez was a prominent figure for Manchester United during his stay in the Premier League before Louis van Gaal froze him out of the team which paved way for a move to Bayer Leverkusen. He is currently enjoying his best run of form for the German side which has attracted interest from a host of clubs since the last summer.

According to the Mirror, Javier Hernandez has now become a transfer target for both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur who are looking to bolster their forward line in the second half of the season.

With the transfer market opening in less than a month, Mauricio Pochettino and Jurgen Klopp are reassessing their options to make their respective sides even more formidable to challenge for the top spots. Klopp's main priority is a winger whereas Pochettino is eyeing a long-term no.10 solution. But a player of the ilk of Javier Hernandez is not available in every transfer period which makes his signature a hot topic.

Valencia are also said to be in the running for the Mexican forward with the Spanish club’s owners hoping that Chicharito will be the star man who will take them out of their misery. Hernandez has a release clause of £33.5 million which is set to be a roadblock for every team that is interested in the striker.

However, the fact that he has already scored 20 goals in this calendar year may force some clubs to pay such a huge sum for the former United man.

Though Spurs bought a promising forward in Vincent Janssen in the summer window, the Dutchman has failed to provide enough cover for Harry Kane which was evident when the latter was injured for the majority of October and November. Spurs found it hard to find a win in Kane's absence which may prompt Pochettino to sign Javier Hernandez which can possibly make them serious title contenders.

Though Jurgen Klopp has a number of forwards to choose from and along with the emergence of academy graduate, Ben Woodburn, the Reds were not supposed to look for a striker in the coming days. With Daniel Sturridge not looking happy at the club, he is not expected to stay with Liverpool in the long run and a move for an experienced Premier League player in Javier Hernandez makes complete sense.

His price might be an issue for Liverpool but Klopp and the Reds won't find a predatory instinctive striker like Chicharito anywhere else at the moment.
