FC Barcelona tried to get a controversial Cesc Fabregas ad for Beats by Dre headphones from being aired during the El Clasico clash on Sunday night.

The ad starts off with the former Arsenal captain sitting in Barcelona’s team bus heading to the Clasico. On the way, Fabregas sees Real Madrid ultras chanting slogans against Catalunya, lighting flares, waving flags and being chased by the police.

To block out all the chaos emanating from outside, Fabregas puts on the headphones as he prepares himself for the big match against Real Madrid.

Prior to the game, Barcelona’s president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, said that the club had asked for the advert to not be shown.

He said: ‘We don’t like the message it sends out, which is why we have asked for it to be withdrawn.’
