Former Denmark duo to play for ISL’s Delhi franchise

Morten Skoubo

Former Denmark internationals Mads Junker and Morten Skoubo are set to play for the Indian Super League’s Delhi franchise according to a report in Denmark.

The report also adds that the name of the Delhi franchise, which is owned by DEN Networks Limited, will be Delhi Dynamos although the franchise will be officially launched this Thursday when they are also expected to announce a strategic tie-up with a leading European club.

33-year-old Junker is a striker and has represented Denmark seven times at senior international level. He announced his international retirement in 2012. Junker spent most of his career in Denmark but has also had spells in the Netherlands and last played for Belgian outfit KV Mechelen.

34-year-old Skoubo is also a centre-forward and has been capped six times for Denmark. He has had stints in Denmark, England, Spain and the Netherlands. Skoubo last played for Danish club Odense Boldklub.

The report says that the two Danish forwards had offers from Europe including the English Premier League but they chose to sign for the ISL. However they don’t qualify to be marquee foreigners.
