Former Liverpool forward Ryan Babel abuses woman on Twitter with sexist remark

Ryan Babel played for Liverpool from 2007 to 2011

Ex-Liverpool forward Ryan Babel may find himself in some deep trouble after the player verbally attacked a female football fan on Twitter with a shocking sexist comment.

The former Netherlands international, as mentioned in his reply, refused to talk about football with a girl after the woman wanted to know the reason behind his hatred for former Reds manager Rafa Benitez.

Babel, who spent four seasons at the Anfield, was signed by Benitez from Ajax in 2007. The Dutchman posted a link to a story in which his former boss at Liverpool Rafael Benitez was quoted speaking out against critics accusing the Spanish coach of employing "defensive" tactics at Real Madrid and accompanied it with an apparently sarcastic: "Hmm."

And one female fan questioned Babel on why he still disliked the Spaniard which generated an outrageous and inappropriate comment from the former Reds forward. Now playing with Al-Ain in the United Arab Emirates, told the woman to “grow some t**s instead of speaking about football” in reply to her question on Twitter.

Babel didn’t stop there as he followed up with more comments defending his earlier remark. “At least let your brother or your boyfriend make the comment then we can argue,” he wrote, adding: ”I'm not saying I can't be a football fan as a girl or woman... Of course u can duhh... I'm just saying that " I " am NOT gonna argue with u 1/2”

Spectators on Twitter blasted the 28-year-old for his demeaning statements against the woman but Babel was adamant and kept defending his actions in a series of replies, stating that they were making the issue bigger than it actually was.

This isn’t the first time that the ex-Holland forward has been involved in social media controversy. Back in 2011, he was fined £10,000 because of a response to Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford as he mocked Manchester United by putting up a photo on his Twitter site of referee Howard Webb wearing a United shirt.

Babel made 91 appearances overall for Liverpool where he scored 12 goals in his four-year spell with the Merseysiders. Before Benitez departed in 2010, he had a fallout with the current Real Madrid manager which eventually led to his exit from the Anfield outfit.
