FIFA have objected to German Formula one driver Nico Rosberg wearing a specially designed helmet which celebrates Germany's FIFA World Cup win last week.

Rosberg had earlier planned to wear the helmet during this weekend's German Grand Prix race at Hockenheim, which is also the driver's hometown.

The 29-year-old driver had tweeted the following earlier with the design of the helmet he intended to wear.

Apparently, the FIFA World Cup trophy image on it contradicts their guideline which states :

"Any unauthorised use of the official marks not only undermines the integrity of the Fifa world cup and its marketing programme, but also puts the interests of the worldwide football community at stake."

The Mercedes driver is at the top of the Formula One Drivers’ Championship with 165 points, just four ahead of team-mate Lewis Hamilton.

Rosberg’s manager Georg Nolte confirmed on Twitter that there will be a slight change in the helmet’s imagery with the trophy’s image removed, but the four stars denoting the country four World Cup wins will stay intact.
