Gurpreet Sandhu will be on Stabaek’s bench for tommorrow’s league fixture

After making his competitive debut for the Stabaek reserves team last week, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu took another giant step towards the Norway club’s first team by getting selected in the 18-man match squad for Saturday’s league encounter against Stromsgodset, Sportskeeda can reveal

Gurpreet is set to be named on the bench with Ivorian World Cupper Sayouba Mande getting the start but the 22-year-old’s inclusion in the match squad suggests that he is heading in the right direction.

The former East Bengal custodian kept a clean sheet in Stabaek reserves’ team’s 2-0 win over Egersund in Norway’s third tier last Monday and is expected to feature in their next game against Vard also on Monday.

But for now Gurpreet can look forward to the away clash against Stromsgodset, who are currently placed third in Norway’s top tier, better known as Tippeligaen. Stabaek are ninth in the 16-team league.

The kick-off time is 19:00 IST tomorrow.
