Manchester United registered their best win of the pre-season after beating Barcelona 3-1 thanks to goals from Wayne Rooney, Jesse Lingard and Adnan Januzaj. Rooney headed in United’s opener in the eight-minute of the match from an Ashley Young corner.
Lingard then doubled United's lead after he struck home a Tyler Blackett cross. One of the highlights of the match was Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal substituting his entire team just after the hour.
Barcelona reduced the deficit after Rafinha struck a sweetly timed volley in the dying minutes of the match. United found time to add a third as Janzaj scored from a swift counter-attack move.
Barcelona had a goal disallowed after Luis Suarez was ruled offside for a goal and the Champions League winners also hit the post three times as United held onto a morale-boosting win. United have one match remaining in the pre-season as they face Paris St Germain on July 29.
