IFB Industries Limited and Boca Juniors Football Club launches a nationwide Football tournament

Monday 2nd December 2013: IFB Industries Ltd, one of India’s leading manufacturers of home appliances, has tied up with Argentine Football giants Boca Juniors to unearth the next Diego Maradona or Carlos Tevez from India. This is the first ever programme for both schools and colleges under a single banner and will attract participation from leading Schools and Colleges from all around the country. IFB Boca Juniors Football Champs is a unique event to look out for the next team of big and promising Indian football stars.

This Pan India tournament will travel to eight cities across the country namely – Chandigarh, New Delhi, Goa, Pune, Bangalore, Kozhikode, Kolkata and Shillong. At each venue, a separate tournament will be held for schools and Colleges. Winners from each leg will get a chance to play the coveted National finals at Goa.

During the tournament, a panel of scouts headed by Jamshid Nassiri will oversee all the matches and selected talented boys from each venue would get an opportunity to train with the Boca Juniors coaches in India for a period of 10 days. Post this training camp, the Boca Junior coaches will shortlist a team who will then travel to Buenos Aires, Argentina for further training and matches.

The venue is Chandigarh Football Stadium, Sector 17 and it is being organized in association with the Chandigarh Football Association.Clube Atletico Boca Juniors, the century old football powerhouse from Argentina which once used to be the breeding ground of International star football players like Diege Maradona, Carlos Tevez, Juan Roman Riquelme etc has been roped in as the Technical Partner for the project. Boca Juniors will provide coaches from their Youth Academy who shall train shortlisted kids and also host a final contingent from India for a week long training camp at their Academy in Argentina.

The Boca Product Head commented on the partnership, “At Boca Juniors football club we have developed a curriculum where we aim to produce world class talent, our records speaks for themselves. We are glad to be associated with this project and to take our methodology to India and develop latent talent here. After opening the Boca Juniors Soccer Schools in India earlier this year, this will be our second initiative in the sub continent and we hope that through this program, talented boys are scouted who one day would go on to represent the National team.”

A team of scouts will spot talented boys from both the categories who will get a chance to train under coaches from foreign coaches and the final 7 boys from each category will get a chance of a lifetime to win a trip to Argentina.Head scout for the program, Mr.Jamshid Nassiri, former Iranian footballer, said, “I hope that through this program that IFB is undertaking in such a novel and wonderful manner, we can unearth some talented boys who would not only take up football as a profession but also make the country proud.”
