The inauguration function of the 56th edition of the Subroto Cup, India's most famous inter-school tournament took place earlier today. The tournament, named in honour of Air Marshal Subroto Mukherjee, started in the year 1960, and has been an annual affair since then.

This edition of the tourhament will see teams taking part in 3 categories – the sub-junior (U-14) boys, the junior girls (U-17) and the junior boys (U-17). The popular tournament, which has also given rise to many future stars, will go on till the middle of October. To add to the glamour and thrill associated with the tournament, Brazilian legend Pele, the only man to win the FIFA World Cup thrice, will be attending the final.
