India U-23 player ratings against Pakistan U-23

Skipper Sunil was India’s standout performer

India U-23 suffered a 2-0 loss against Pakistan U-23 in the final game of the two-match friendly series at the Bangalore Football Stadium in Bangalore on Wednesday afternoon. Sportskeeda rates the Indian players.

Amrinder Singh (Goalkeeper) 6.5 – Could have done better with the freekick from which Kaleem Ullah scored but produced a smart save to deny Saddam Hussain in the second half. Overall wasn’t tested too many times in this game.

Pritam Kotal (Right Back) 6.0 – Didn’t do much wrong defensively but the distribution was again poor from the Mohun Bagan right back and he didn’t threaten too much while overlapping.

Joyner Laurenco (Centre Back) 6.5 – Another solid performance from the Sporting Clube de Goa defender as he made some key interceptions and couldn’t have done anything to prevent either goal.

Sandesh Jhingan (Centre Back) 5.5 – The Kerala Blasters defender looked dangerous from set-pieces and was quite composed while defending but was at fault for the second goal as he failed to win a 50-50 challenge with Saddam.

Narayan Das (Left Back) 6.5 – The Dempo player was once again one of the better performers as he looked assured while defending but going forward his contribution was subdued compared to the first game.

Francis Fernandes (Right Midfield) 5.0 – Another poor performance from the Delhi Dynamos winger as he failed to make any impact and was rightly taken off at halftime.

Milan Singh (Central Midfield) 4.5 – The North East United FC medio was given a start ahead of Pronay Haldar but he failed to make the most of this opportunity as his passing and delivery from set-pieces weren’t good enough.

Lalrindika Ralte (Central Midfield) 6.0 – The East Bengal man was one of the few players who impressed in the first half as he often combined well with skipper Sunil but Wim Koevermans surprisingly substituted him at the break.

Mandar Rao Desai (Left Midfield) 5.5 – The Dempo youngster tried his best to make an impact in this game and once again showed plenty of energy but couldn’t produce quality with his final ball.

Sunil Chhetri (Centre Forward) 7.0 – The captain was by far India’s best player and showed plenty of great touches including a delightful through pass for Haokip. But like so many games under Koevermans, it was a one-man show as Sunil lacked support from his teammates.

Thongkhosiem Haokip (Centre Forward) 5.0 – The Pune FC striker’s inexperience at international level was evident in this game as he not only wasted a golden opportunity but also consistently lost the aerial duels to the Pakistani centre-backs.

Substitutes

Semilen Doungel (Right Midfield) 5.0 – Replaced Francis Fernandes at the break but was equally ineffective with his final ball or finish.

Siam Hanghal (Central Midfield) 6.0 – Came on for Lalrindika and looked lively although he couldn’t produce the final pass.

Clifton Dias (Left Midfield) 5.0 – The Salgaocar man was played out of position on the left wing and thus struggled to get into the game.

Dhanpal Ganesh (Central Midfield) 5.0 – The Pune FC medio was untidy in possession and couldn’t make any impact.
