The launch of the Hero Indian Super League saw them unveil the official logo of the Hero ISL at a ceremony in Mumbai.
Nita Ambani, the chairperson of IMG-Reliance was present to unveil the logo and she was joined by the President of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Praful Patel, Chairman & MD, Hero MotorCorp (title sponsors) Pawan Munjal, COO of broadcasting partners Star India Sanjay Gupta.
The representatives of the various teams included Utsav Parekh for Atletico de Kolkata, Sachin Tendulkar for Kerala Blasters FC, Abhishek Bachchan for Team Chennai, Ranbir Kapoor for Team Mumbai, John Abraham North East United FC, Varun Dhavan for FC Goa, Sameer Manchanda for Delhi Dynamos FC and Kapil Wadhawan for FC Pune City.
The new website for the Indian Super League was also launched.
Indian Super League to help India in the long run
Nita Ambani spoke at the even and how the ISL could help Indian kids with a grassroot program, “We all have a dream of seeing India at the World Cup. Let's all work together to make this dream possible.”
“In the first year itself, we will reach out to 1 million kids through grassroots programs.”
Sanjay Gupta said, “Today marks a historic day. It is the birth of a footballing nation.”
Ranbir Kapoor also talked about the need for good quality football for the fans.: “I've always yearned for top quality football in India as a fan, and we're going to get that through the Hero ISL. We need the support of the fans. We need them to come to the grounds and cheer for their teams.”
Sachin Tendulkar said he had a vision for India called ‘Sports for all’ and explained: “It's not about turning every child into a professional sportsman, but about making them healthy and fit.”
“Sport taught me so many things in life that I could never learn in a classroom.”
The team representatives also signed the Hero ISL pledge.
