Interview with Robin Singh: Delhi Dynamos have talent to be ISL champions

Robin Singh is currently playing in the ISL for the Delhi Dynamos

In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda, Indian international Robin Singh spoke to us about his experience so far in the Indian Super League after missing the inaugural season. Robin also talks about playing under Roberto Carlos and with players such as John Arne Riise and Florent Malouda.

Hi Robin, how has the ISL journey been so far?

The journey has been great. I am honored to play with a great team like Delhi Dynamos. The experience so far has been highly enriching and exciting.

Delhi Dynamos have started off well with 9 points from 5 games, what do you make out of it?

It is safe to say that every team plays to win. At Delhi Dynamos, we're working very hard and undergoing a focused training schedule daily to come out a winner in this league. We take one game at a time, and our goal is step off the field with 3 points each game.

What are your personal targets for the season?

My expectations from myself is only to play fantastic football. I want to keep my head focussed on the task ahead and to be able to add value for my team any way that I can.

How is the atmosphere in the dressing room? Are the players getting on well?

The dressing room becomes a sacred place for any athlete. It's where the majority of emotions are felt before or after the game, and a true sense of the word 'team' is experienced here.

What advice has Roberto Carlos given you? How is it playing under him?

It's a humbling experience to be playing under a legend like Roberto Carlos. We're learning a great deal not only about European football but also about their way of thinking and disciplining themselves. Roberto has asked us to keep our game simple, impactful and above all, to have fun.

It must be quite an experience to play with players like Riise and Malouda, tell us about it.

Playing alongside these experienced names is a surreal experience as each of them has so much knowledge to impart and experiences to relate to. That being said we are treated as equals on the team. Nobody is the shadow for anybody. We are all a family and we play to win together.

Which team has impressed you the most so far in the ISL?

All teams have their strengths and are playing to their strengths. At Delhi Dynamos, we take no one for granted. Each game is prepared for as though we were to face our toughest opponents.

Finally, how far do you think Delhi Dynamos can go in the tournament?

Delhi has immense talent in the team to be champions but we are taking one game at a time and only focus is to win our games. If we work hard as a team being champions is also possible.
