Wilson looks set to become a great striker

Manchester United’s production line is currently clogged with prestigious talents like and James Wilson is one of the young players who is destined for greatness. The striker has only just turned 18 but has made numerous appearances for the Under-21 team, impressing on every occasion. The teenager has represented Manchester United at school boy level and signed a professional contract with them last year.

Wilson has had a terrific season for United so far, impressing on both the domestic and international fronts. The 18-year-old started for the Red Devils against German club Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Youth Champions League and managed to find the back of the net after just four minutes.

Wilson was then brought down by Leverkusen defenders later in the game and was awarded a penalty which he took with ease, completing a brilliant brace and going on to help United trump Leverkusen 4-3. The young forward’s brilliance continued in the next game against Real Sociedad and scored a brilliant goal taking his tally to four goals in as many games in the tournament.

Wilson has always been a top talent and was last season’s top scorer with 14 goals in 13 games. The highlight of his 2012-2013 season was the match against Newcastle United’s youth team, where Wilson scored 5 incredible goals to help United trash the Magpies 7-2. The youngster is quick with both feet and is an excellent finisher with an appetite for goals. Wilson has drawn comparisons to the retired Michael Owen who was one of the best strikers in the world when he was in his prime.

The Biddulph-born forward is also the skipper of the Under-19 team this season. Nicky Butt, who is the manager of the Under-19 squad, has been singing his praises and has tipped him for greatness. Wilson is also an excellent free kick taker and penalty specialist making him a complete striker.

The youngster also has raw energy and quick pace making him a nightmare for opposing defences. This season he has scored 5 goals in as many games in the Barclays Under-18 Premier League and may even become the top scorer for the second year in a row.

Wilson recently scored an excellent goal against Burnley in the FA Youth Cup joining Andreas Pereira, who also scored a sublime goal, on the score sheet. David Moyes will certainly make way for this striker in the first team in the future. There are currently many forwards waiting to break into the first team in the form of Will Keane, Angelo Henriquez and Ashley Fletcher but Wilson should be able to fight for his place.

The forward has also represented England in youth levels and is currently playing for his country’s Under-19 team. A lot of goals are expected from this young forward but Wilson is sure to stand up to the challenge and make a name for himself.
