Jamie Carragher has heralded praise on Liverpool youngster and former team-mate, Raheem Sterling, after the winger propelled his side to another vital three points on Sunday.
Sterling has been magnificent for Liverpool this season and has been in scintillating form in the last few months. He scored a screamer against Norwich on Sunday, assisted Suarez for the second goal and then netted the third, which turned out to be the winning goal.
Carragher, who played with Sterling in his last season at Liverpool in 2012-13, admits he did not know Sterling had it in his locker to score the first goal on Sunday.
Carragher told Sky Sports Super Sunday: “No, when I first started playing with him, he’d struggle to take a corner, you’d think it wouldn’t reach, or shoot from outside the box. To see the confidence he’s got, to strike it so well.
“As I said, when he first came into the team, obviously he was a couple of years younger, his crossing of the ball from outside the box, you wouldn’t think it would reach the goalkeeper, never mind taking a corner. You’d never thought he’d reach the target in there.
“But that comes from the confidence and I think we’re now talking about the most in-form player in the Premier League over the last few weeks.”
