It has been nothing short of a fairytale for Leicester City as far as this year’s Premier League is concerned. The Foxes who finished 14th in the Premier League last season has risen exponentially this year to lead the table by a clear five points with nine games to go.
Claudio Ranieri’s men have shown the world that they aren’t a pushover team anymore and can consistently compete against the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
Fuelled by players like Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy, Leicester has shown tremendous consistency. This season has seen them remaining unbeaten in 26 matches out of the 29, losing only to Liverpool (Away) and Arsenal (Home and Away). However, the question in everyone’s mind that remains is whether the Foxes can keep their momentum up for the rest of the season and seal the deal.
They say you need experience to sustain the momentum through the business end of a top-tier league in order to come out on top. And clearly, the Leicester players don’t really have much of it. So, how exactly are the players coping up with the pressure?
Let's take Vardy for instance
Jamie Vardy, the Leicester striker who has racked up 19 goals this season till now told the press that he was busy playing ‘Call of Duty’ on his PlayStation rather than watching both their title-contenders, Tottenham and Arsenal lose at the hands of the Hammers and the Swans respectively.
After the match against Watford, which saw the Foxes moving five points clear at the top of the table, all Vardy had to say was, “I saw a lot of people saying the results last Wednesday night went in our favour. But I was playing Call of Duty on the PlayStation.”
“I had the football on in the background but it was Liverpool beating Manchester City.”
Later, he also added, “Liverpool put a good result in and I was just relaxing, playing Call of Duty. As I’ve said before it’s down to us. We’ll just keep doing each game as it comes and keep trying to pick up as many points as possible.”
Leicester City has nine more matches to play as they will be facing Manchester United (Away), Everton (Home) and Chelsea (Away) in the last three matches of the 2015-‘16 season.
