Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has denied that he indirectly criticised team mate Robin van Persie when he posted a photo on his Instagram account that highlighted the importance of team unit.

Van Persie had earlier claimed that he found Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat to Olympiakos in the Champions League round of 16 difficult as he was forced to adapt his preferred playing style to suit those around him.

“Sometimes I try to find ways to do more but in the areas I wanted to play, my team-mates were often there. This makes it difficult for me. Then I have to change my tactics to suit my team-mates, and play outside my zone. It’s a pity,” said the Dutchman.

Rumours have circulated that the 30-year-old has grown frustrated with life under David Moyes and could leave Old Trafford at the end of the season.

However, Hernandez posted a photo with the caption “Without your team-mates you can’t be somebody in football, always be thankful,” which appeared to be a swipe at van Persie’s perceived lack of respect.

But the Mexican sent a series of tweets last night to confirm he has no issue with van Persie and they are focused on resurrecting the Red Devils season.

“I need to put this cause things get a little out of context. Why do the press always take comments out of context, my comment on Instagram had nothing to do with RVP.

“We are great team-mates working for the same goal, the TEAM! & because the team isn’t doing as well as we’d like everyone just wants to make everything look like a bad thing!” he insisted.

There have also been suggestions that Hernandez could leave United in the summer as he has struggled for game time under Moyes, but the 25-year-old appears to be committed to the cause and behind his team mates at present as they look overturn a first leg deficit in the Champions League and finish in the top four.
