Will Mourinho bring success?

Jose Mourinho has wasted no time in expressing his joy to the world after landing his dream job. The new Manchester United manager put up his first post on Instagram with an image of the contract he signed.

There has been speculation about the news for quite some time now and it has finally happened. Several media outlets broke news yesterday as Jose was spotted driving from his hotel to meet with executives and sign the contract.

But Manchester United only released the official statement today. Louis Van Gaal won the FA Cup for Manchester United just a few days back. The Dutchman won the club’s 12th FA Cup on Saturday which equalled the record for the most by a team in England, and on Monday, he was sacked by the club.

It wasn’t the prettiest way to go and the club could have definitely handled it better but it was something that was probably predictable considering the way United’s season had progressed under him.

Van Gaal was unable to help the team finish in the UEFA Champions League places and was criticized heavily for playing a brand of football that United teams of the past are not associated with. Former players in particular Paul Scholes were very critical whenever the club put in a bad performance.

It was interesting to see what the reception of the fans was like when Mourinho was announced but so far it has generally been very good. Many are unsure if Mourinho is right for the job but he is a proven winner.

The manager has won a trophy in every country he’s managed so far which include Portugal, Spain, Italy and England. His most recent endeavour was his two and a half year stint with Chelsea, returning to the club after 6 years.

He was sacked in December after a shocking run of results and now he will be facing his old club in the Premier League, a prospect Chelsea fans were not expecting at the beginning of last year.

There will probably be more good news for United fans as Zlatan Ibrahimovic dropped a big hint that he might be going to Old Trafford. The Swede is a free agent and has admitted how much he misses working for his old boss.
