Keylor Navas admits Real Madrid players hurting after Clasico humiliation

Navas had a torrid time upon his return from injury against Barcelona

Real Madrid shot-stopper Keylor Navas has admitted that Los Blancos were left hurting after the humiliating loss to Barcelona in El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu last weekend, ESPNFC reports.

Navas was talking to the press along with manager Rafael Benitez before Real’s Champions League clash against Shakhtar Donetsk when he expressed his views. The Costa Rican said that the team has to stay together and whether they win or lose, they will face the results as a team.

"We all have to run that bit harder. We're a team, and it isn't a question of some of us running more or less.”

"I have confidence in all of my teammates. I know the qualities that they have and the type of team that we are. We're a team -- when we win, we win together, and when we lose, we lose together," he said as per the club’s official website.

However, Navas stated that the team was saddened by the loss and the manner in which they surrendered to their arch-rivals was unacceptable.

“We're all really hurting because of what happened; we're professionals and we're aware that we put in a very bad display.”

“Both the players and the coaching staff take responsibility for their mistakes and we know that there are aspects we have to change if we're to be successful. We're out to fight to achieve the goals that we have in front of us.”

“It's down to us, and over the remainder of the season we want to bounce back,” said the 28-years old.

Real medical staff did a great job: Navas

The Costa Rican returned from injury against Barcelona and was happy with the efforts of Real Madrid’s medical staff.

"My adductor is fine, that's important. The medical staff did a great job. We're all in it together, we're clear on our objectives. People can say what they like, but what's important is what all of us think," he said.

Los Blancos have already qualified for the knockout stages of the tournament, but they would want to win their remaining two group stage matches to top the group and avoid any tricky fixtures in the round of 16.

"Our aim was to qualify and we've done that, and now we have to keep on going with the same level of desire. It'll be a difficult game because they're an excellent team. That could also spur us on to go out there with confidence and look for the three points to help us take another big step forwards in the Champions League," Navas said.
