Lionel Messi trolls media after claims he bought rare Ferrari for €32 million

Lionel Messi has a laugh at everyone else's expense after claims he bought a rare Ferrari

Lionel Messi has shown on multiple occasions that he doesn't really care about material comfort and possessions and he has done it again. After widespread reports that the Argentine magician had procured a very rare 1957 Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti at an auction for €32 million, Messi poked fun at the media by posting a picture of a toy car, saying that is what he had purchased.

Following claims that he had indeed bid for the rare Ferrari Spider, one of the most beautiful cars seen, there were also other reports that came out saying that the Barcelona man had outbid long-time rival and Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo for the Ferrari, thus taking their rivalry off the pitch as well, intensifying it in the process.

The two have been great competitors and have been performing at unbelievable levels for the last 7-8 years, winning multiple team and individual honours in the process. The Messi-Ronaldo rivalry has also see the two dominate others in the race to win the Ballon d’Or, with the Argentinian having won it five times, most recently in Januray for his performances in 2015, while the Portuguese national has won three.

Messi's response to all the reports that tried to create unnecessary friction between Ronaldo and himself was hilarious and showed how simple at heart he is. He took to Instagram to answer those claims and posed with a toy car, saying, “My new car,” thus silencing all claims that he had indeed bid for the Ferrari and that he had to outbid Cristiano Ronaldo for the same.

The Barcelona talisman is currently recovering from a minor kidney procedure and will be looking to play against Celta Vigo in La Liga on the weekend, after having missed their Copa del Rey 2nd leg encounter against Valencia during midweek.
