Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish confirmed to be one of the managers for the Indian Super League

Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish has been signed up to be one of the managers in the Indian Super League, Sportskeeda can reveal.

The new league, which is being organised by IMG-Reliance with Star India roped in as the broadcasters, will have several big-name players and coaches. Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel and France World Cup winner Marcel Desailly were the two confirmed managers previously and now King Kenny has become the third confirmed name.

Dalglish won several major honours with Liverpool as a player and manager besides guiding Blackburn Rovers to their only English Premier League title in 1994-95. The Scotsman’s last managerial stint was at his beloved Liverpool, where he has been recently appointed as a non-executive director. He is expected to be in India next month along with the other signed coaches to help the franchises in the player auctions.

It was also learnt that the organisers are in talks with former Netherlands captain Ruud Gullit and another Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler to sign them as managers for the IPL-style football tournament.

Besides the three confirmed high profile managers, several foreign marquee players including Arsenal legends Robert Pires and Freddie Ljungberg have already been signed to play in this new league, which starts on January 18 2014. Talks are also in progress with another Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and former Ballon d’Or winner Michael Owen.

According to reports, several big corporates like Tony Fernandes (Air Asia) QPR, Sunil Bharti Mittal (Airtel), Ronnie Screwala (UTV) and Bollywood stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham, Ranbir Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan have shown interest in buying franchises with the names of the remaining foreign marquee players and overseas managers to be revealed soon.
