Rumour: Liverpool must increase £16m bid to land Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno

Liverpool target Albeto Moreno

Liverpool will need to increase their offer for Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno if they wish to land the highly-rated defender, writes the Express.

Brendan Rodgers lodged a formal bid for the Spain international last week, comprised of £16 million cash and a loan deal for Reds attacking midfielder Suso.

However, reports in Spain state that the La Liga club would rather Suso wasn’t included in the deal.

Sevilla sporting director Monchi will listen to offers for Moreno but only if they match their £18m valuation of the player.

Sevilla are thought see Liverpool’s current offer as an overvaluation of their 21-year-old, yet are still demanding close to £20 million to aid their own transfer business this summer.

Chelsea are said to be waiting in the wings should the Merseysider’s walk away from negotiations.

Following Ashley Cole’s decampment, Jose Mourinho is scouring the market for a replacement left-back and has pinpointed Atletico Madrid’s Filipe Luis as his prime target.

If Atletico reject the London club’s advances, then Chelsea could move for Moreno having watched the Seville-born man on numerous occasions this year and the last.
