Borussia Dortmund have bad news for Liverpool as the Merseyside club has been told not to waste their time over signing American teenager, Christian Pulisic.

Jurgen Klopp is reportedly a big admirer of the American midfielder and apparently wants him at the Merseyside in the coming January transfer window. In fact, Liverpool had made £11.5million bid for the 18-year-old in the summer transfer window but only to be rejected by Dortmund.

Michael Zorc, Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director, has bad news yet again for Liverpool after speaking to German newspaper Bild.

“It’s not worth the effort for Liverpool,” said Zorc.

Christian Pulisic has made strides under Thomas Tuchel this season, appearing in nine Bundesliga games for the club and also in the Champions League. The American footballer has also been impressive for the US national soccer team as well thereby giving Dortmund a lot of leverage.

Liverpool are currently in the requirement for a couple of players in January following the season-ending injury to Danny Ings as well as Sadio Mane departing for the African Cup of Nations tournament.

Philippe Coutinho’s ankle injury in the game against Sunderland has further made things difficult for the Merseyside club as the Brazilian has been ruled out for up to 6 weeks.

Jurgen Klopp has also admitted that he could be forced into bringing in new players in the January transfer window keeping injuries in mind.

“We watch the market all the time and of course we need to be prepared for different situations and one of them is injuries,” said Klopp. “The African Cup of Nations we already knew about, so we don’t need to be influenced or surprised by that, but it could be a moment when we approach the market.:

Klopp also spoke about the lack of an established winger in the absence of Senegalese international Sadio Mane, who will represent his nation in the AFCON Cup in January.

“It’s not about how many strikers. Three strikers are enough, I think. But when Sadio is away we will be without a winger. We do not have many wingers, I would say.

“Roberto Firmino could play as a kind of a winger which would then just give us two strikers. It is a long way to go from January onwards and that month of January is busy.”

Christian Pulisic became the youngest overseas player in the Bundesliga after scoring against Stuttgart last season. The American had an excellent debut for Dortmund last season contributing six assists and two goals in just 14 games for the German club.
