Liverpool Transfer Rumour: Liverpool bid £11 million Dortmund starlet Christian Pulisic

Christian Pulisic is the centre of interest for Liverpool and Stoke City

Liverpool have made a surprising £11 million bid for Christian Pulisic, the 17-year-old sensation at Borussia Dortmund.

This bid is totally unexpected from the Reds as many would have thought that Jurgen Klopp has finished his transfer business, with the German stating that he won't buy a left back, which is the need of the hour at Anfield.

Pulisic was bought by Jurgen Klopp during his Dortmund days and now wants to continue his progress under him at Melwood. The 17-year-old came to Dortmund 18 months ago and has already cemented his place in the first team squad.

He scored two goals after making his debut in February, making him the youngest non-German player to score in the Bundesliga. Pulisic has also made his international senior debut for the United States.

Borussia Dortmund are going to resist any offer for the youngster, as the German club want him to develop at the Westfalenstadion. Stoke City and CSKA Moscow are the other clubs interested in the 17-year-old, with the Potters rumoured to bid £15 million to secure his services.

Stoke will look to convince the youngster to reunite him with his US teammate, Geoff Cameron.

Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool board have their work cut out if they want to persuade Pulisic to convince him about Klopp’s project at Liverpool and also persuade Dortmund to sell the young starlet.

Klopp needs to convince the player that his future lies in Liverpool, as the Reds are pursuing an almost unlikely transfer, and also with less than five days left in the transfer market.

With Mario Gotze's arrival at Dortmund, chances won't come easy for Pulisic to start this season. The additions of attacking-minded players like Andre Schurlle and Emre Mor will make it even more difficult for the US international to be a first-team player at Dortmund.

Pulisic has one goal for his national team in six appearances and has already become an important player for the national team at just 17 years of age.

The young American can play in an attacking midfield role as well as on the wings. Pulisic’s main strength is his direct running against defenders and the smartness to move into empty pockets on the field.

Dortmund begin their Bundesliga campaign against Mainz 05 and will look to keep the pressure on Bayern Munich, who thrashed Werder Bremen 6-0, courtesy a Robert Lewandowski hat-trick.
