Luis Suarez's Barcelona contract leaked; cost the club £64.98m

Luis Suarez's Barcelona contract has been leaked by Football Leaks

Football Leaks have struck again and this time have exposed the contract of Barcelona forward Luis Suarez. This is the first Barcelona contract leaked by the website after a series of leaks on current and former Real Madrid players including Mesut Ozil, Gareth Bale, Luka Modric, Angel di Maria, Toni Kroos and more.

Luis Suarez moved to Barcelona in the summer of 2014 from English giants, Liverpool, and has gone on to establish himself as a mainstay in the first team currently leading the goalscoring charts ahead of Argentine superstar Lionel Messi and Brazilian sensation, Neymar.

While Suarez's move to the Catalan club was reportedly worth £75m, it is now clear – with the leak – that the Uruguayan cost Barcelona £64.98m. Barcelona's payment to Liverpool was split in parts and paid as follows: £13m on 31/7/14, £13m on 31/1/15, £13m on 31/7/15, £13m on 31/1/16 and £12.98m on 31/7/16.

As it stands, Barcelona have still not completed the payment to Liverpool and will only do so at the end of this season.

Another interesting find from Suarez's contract was the lack of any clauses or bonus payments. This could one of two things. Firstly, if Liverpool were desperate to offload the striker that they weren't interested in delaying the move any longer. Secondly, they asked for such a high amount – £64.98m is a high amount – to compensate for the lack of clauses.

The season before moving to Barcelona, Luis Suarez was involved in a massive tussle with the club after Arsenal had bid a reported release clause the Uruguayan had. Arsene Wenger's men famously bid £40,000,001 on the tip that the former Ajax man would then be free to negotiate deals with Arsenal but Liverpool denied the existence of such a clause and it was reported that Wenger was unwilling to waste time in going to court over the signing of the player.

Suarez even went public about wanting to leave Liverpool but finally stayed back at the club and moved to Spain the following summer.
