Manchester United and Nike sign a world-record £600 million sponsorship deal

Manchester United have extended their tie with American sportswear manufacturer Nike, and the deal is said to be worth more than £600 million, a world record for a kit deal.

The deal would mean that Manchester-based club will be earning around £60m annually for the next 10 years instead of their current £23.5m-per-season deal, thus overtaking Real Madrid’s £31m-a-year deal with German giants Adidas as the largest global kit manufacturing deal.

United had recently sealed their shirt sponsorship deal with Chevrolet which is worth £35m-per-year.

United’s current contract with Nike was going to expire in 2015, and a huge-contract like this indicates just how big the club is, regardless of their poor slump of form this season, and with two major revenue streams opening up, Manchester United manager David Moyes will have less things to worry about right now.
