Manchester United have denied all reports of club officials meeting with Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal, reports ESPN.
Earlier this week, Dutch newspaper De Telgraaf had claimed that Van Gaal had a meeting with Manchester United chairman, Joel Glazer with the objective of discussing Van Gaal’s job prospects to replace manager under pressure David Moyes.
However, the club’s Press Association have dismissed any such report and insisted that no such meeting took place.
Van Gaal, aged 62, had already expressed his plans to step down as Netherlands’ manager after the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup and his desire to manage in England.
“My ambition is to coach a top team in the Premier League. I have never experienced the atmosphere in England,” he told German newspaper Bild earlier this year.
“I want to win the league title in a fourth country. That’s my objective and I want to fulfil it.”
Van Gaal has been heavily linked with Tottenham with former AC Milan legend Ruud Gullit even insisting that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy recently had a meeting with him and is expected to take over Tim Sherwood’s job at the end of the season.
“I know for sure the chairman of Tottenham was at Van Gaal’s house,” said Gullit. “I think it’s a done deal, but you never know.”
Van Gaal, who is currently managing the Dutch team already has a replacement lined up for him in Guus Hiddink who will replace him as the Oranje coach after the FIFA World Cup.
