Manchester United are lining up a big-money summer bid for Marco Reus from Borussia Dortmund and are preparing to offer them Shinji Kagawa to sweeten the deal.

Kagawa only signed for United two years ago in a £17 million deal from Dortmund but has struggled to find form at Old Trafford and is thought to be one of the players manager David Moyes wants to move on as part of his summer rebuild.

The Japanese midfielder maintains a favourable reputation in Germany after having lit up the Bundesliga during his spell with last season’s Champions League runners-up, and Dortmund fans would welcome him back to the club with open arms.

Reus is considered one of the brightest talents in Europe currently, with the 24-year-old having been a long-term target of United’s, as well as several other big-name clubs across the continent.

The German is rated at around £35m by the Bundesliga giants and, according to the Metro, United are hoping that a £25 million bid plus Kagawa will persuade Dortmund to allow them to speak with the attacking midfielder.

Reus was reportedly the subject of a failed bid from United in January, but Dortmund may be more willing to do business in the summer, with the player himself open to testing himself in a new country.

Marco Reus has created 58 chances for Borussia Dortmund this season, averaging 3.46 scoring opportunities created per 90 minutes. Shinji Kagawa has created just five chances, carving out 0.75 chances per games.
