Manchester United Legend: Arsenal won't win the EPL and Ozil hasn't made a "massive impact"

Sky Sports pundit and former Manchester United defender Gary Neville praised Arsenal’s character in the wake of their 2-1 win at Aston Villa, but doesn’t think that they will win the Premier League title. The 2-1 win at Villa Park helped Arsenal to return to the top of the Premier League but, whilst he praised their improvement from last season, Neville doesn’t expect them to stay there.

When asked whether Arsenal players will be talking about the title, Neville replied:

“Probably not, but I think they’re doing well – they’re doing really well.

That’s not patronising – for them to do what they’re doing from where they were last season [they’re doing well].”

“I know they’ve signed Ozil, but [while] he’s had a good impact it’s not what you’d call a massive impact whereby he’s doing a Luis Suarez or scoring 15-20 goals.”

They’re doing well as a team, they’re digging in. I think that was the important thing – the away win at Villa, the away win at West Ham and the away win at Newcastle are big moments and I think that this arsenal team are progressing.

However Neville did admit that he still doesn’t see the Gunners as being the league’s eventual champions.

“It’s ominous that Chelsea and City are looking powerful and strong”, he continued. “I do think they’ll get hauled back by those two teams, I just think the power of those two eventually [will haul them in].”

“But up to this point they’re doing everything that’s being asked of them. From our point of view we really hope they’re involved in it come March/April, but there is a long way to go.”
