In demand- Adnan Januzaj

Manchester United Winger Adnan Januzaj, who was invited to play in Kosovo’s first ever international match against Haiti on 5th March, is yet to decide whether or not he will play in the game .

Januzaj was born in Brussels but his varying family background means he could play for a number of countries which include Belgium, Albania, England and Kosovo.

Kosovo’s general secretary Eroll Salihu said, “The invitation to him is symbolic but we believe that he is obliged to show his people that he will be there when needed in a historic moment.

“We should have an answer by the end of this week and Januzaj’s appearance would simply show that he has not forgotten his people, even if he can play only for 10 or 15 minutes,” he added.

Janujaz will have to make a tough choice of either accepting or rejecting the offer because under current FIFA rules Januzaj cannot change nationality until 2017. However, there comes another twist as FA chiefs admitted last week that the are in conversation with FIFA over a change in rule.

Salihu also revealed that the FKK had spoken to Januzaj’s uncle and father and clarified that the winger would still be eligible to play for another nation in the future should he decide to change his mind, “It’s a friendly so it will not be an obstacle and he would be eligible to play for whoever he chooses.”

England and Belgium remain high on Januzaj’s list as Roy Hodgson and Marc Wilmots (Belgium’s coach) have made it clear that they would welcome the 19 year old with open arms.
