Mohun Bagan confirm signing Honduras international striker Georgie Welcome

Georgie Welcome will play Mohun Bagan in the 2015/16 season

I-League champions Mohun Bagan AC confirmed the signing of Honduras international striker Georgie Wilson Welcome Collins. The 30-year-old striker becomes the club’s second foreign recruit for the upcoming season after Japanese midfielder Katsumi Yusa. Yusa had extended his contract with the club a couple of weeks ago.

Georgie Wilson Welcome Collins has represented his national side in 32 international games and also played in the 2010 FIFA World. He was also a part of Honduras U23 side which participated in the 2008 Olympic Games.

A tall lanky striker who is known for his finishing and aerial ability, he might prove to be an appropriate replacement for their Cameroonian marquee player Pierre Boya who played a stellar role in the club’s success last season. With Sony Norde on the verge of signing a contract extension, the defending champions look strong as they have managed to retain almost the entire squad which had delivered a fantastic performance last season.

Welcome Collins has played for several clubs around the globe in his entire career, most notable being his stint with French club AS Monaco, where he had spent a year on loan from Motagua. He has also played for Thailand club Bec Tero Sasana last season.

The striker is expected to join Mohun Bagan before the pre-season training of the club begins.
