Morgan Schneiderlin
Manchester United are lining up a summer move for Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton, with David Moyes prepared to go toe-to-toe with Arsenal for the signature of the Frenchman.
Schneiderlin has been one of the stand-out performers for Southampton this season, having been a regular in Mauricio Pochettino’s impressive side, as the cornerstone of his midfield.
Several Saints players have caught the eye this season and United have been linked with a number of them, having reportedly considered bids for Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana.
According to the Mirror, United have handed Moyes a £150 million transfer kitty for the summer to reinvigorate his underachieving squad, with a number of ins and outs expected to take place at Old Trafford during the close season and Scneiderlin could potentially be one among the latter.
Southampton recently revealed that they have encountered a large amount of debt from Nicola Cortese’s reign as chairman of the club and while they have denied that they will require a mass sale of their star players, they may need to make one major sale to help balance the books.
Schneiderlin is rated in excess of £15 million by the Saints and with United looking to recruit a tough-tackling, possession retaining midfielder to screen the defence, they could be set to launch a summer bid to lure him to Old Trafford.
Morgan Schneiderlin has won 80 tackles for Southampton this season at a success rate of 47%. Only four players in the Premier League have won more.
