Eight celebrities went head-to-head to contest the EA SPORTS FIFA 16 Celebrity Cup in front of a live audience at London’s Gfinity Arena. Rio Ferdinand, Kyle Walker, Bayo Akinfenwa, Jason Puncheon Nathaniel Clyne, John Ruddy, Ashley Williams and McBusted’s Danny Jones all picked up their controllers to lock horns as EA SPORTS launched the latest instalment of its FIFA franchise.

Liverpool and England right back, Nathaniel Clyne, was the man who emerged victorious after defeating Crystal Palace’s Jason Puncheon in a keenly contested final. The flying full back was delighted to lift the trophy and vowed to keenly protect his crown from likely suitors.

Clyne said: “I’ve always been a massive FIFA fan so it’s great to be crowned FIFA Champ. There’s always huge competition amongst the players when it comes to FIFA so they will definitely be trying to take my crown. Good luck to them though….they’re not having it!"

Andy Tomkins, Senior Marketing Director in the UK for EA, added: “Everyone at EA SPORTS would like to congratulate Nathaniel on his victory. We know FIFA is hugely popular in dressing rooms up and down the country.

It seems to draw out the natural competitive instinct of the players so we thought we’d challenge them to walk the walk in front of a live audience and it was great entertainment. There were some seriously good FIFA players on show so it’s testament to Nathaniel’s skills that he came out on top. I’m sure there’ll be a fair few vying for his title next year!”
