Arsenal midfielder Jorginho's agent Joao Santos has revealed that his client would like to make a return to Italy amidst interest from several Serie A clubs.

Jorginho, formerly of Napoli, joined the Gunners in January 2023 from Chelsea for a reported £12 million fee. He has since made 49 appearances for the club, including 33 this season across competitions. The Italian, however, will be out of contract at the end of the season. He does have an option to extend his contract for another year.

Meanwhile, Fiorentina and Napoli have shown interest in the 32-year-old. His agent Joao Santos has claimed that they are yet to have a discussion with the Gunners regarding a potential renewal. Santos also hinted that Jorginho would like to make a return to Italy. He said (via GOAL):

"Did Arsenal call us for the renewal? Right now, we're focused on the Champions League return leg against Bayern Munich, we're in no hurry. If they were to call us in a month or two to discuss the renewal, that's fine with us. Would Jorginho like a return to Italy? Yes, of course, because he grew up in Italy and he likes everything about the country."

Santos added:

"If Fiorentina could think of getting a player of Jorginho's level? You have to understand if they think of Jorginho first and foremost, in front of an ambitious project, of a club that wants to aim the Champions League, there would be no problem for us. At the moment, Fiorentina haven't contacted us."

Speaking about Juventus' interest in Jorginho, Santos said:

"In my opinion they don't need a player like Jorginho. If Gintuoli needs a player like Jorginho, he could contact me."

Jorginho has made 151 Serie A appearances previously for the likes of Napoli and Hellas Verona.

Jorginho has been crucial for Arsenal this season

Jorginho has partnered Declan Rice in Arsenal's midfield for the majority of the 2023-24 season. He has been a crucial player for Mikel Arteta's team, who're still fighting for the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

Jorginho, however, has extensive experience in Italian football as well. The midfielder played for clubs like Napoli, Hellas Verona, and more before his 2018 move to Chelsea.

Arsenal have the option to extend Jorginho's deal for a further year. While the player is aging, his quality is still there, hence, options remain open for his future. With the likes of Thomas Partey and Fabio Vieira's futures in the air, the Italian could end up staying at the club.
