Alan Shearer detailed two imminent reasons why Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag could be sacked this summer, even if the club wins the FA Cup. Shearer expressed his views on the United boss on the Rest is Football podcast, alleging that he would be sacked.

Firstly, the former England forward feels Ten Hag's future at the club has already been determined by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his administration. Shearer claimed that winning the FA Cup would not secure the manager's future at the club.

"I think the future of the Manchester United manager is already determined. Even if they win the FA Cup, I think he's gone. That may be sad, that may be wrong but I just get the feeling that winning the FA Cup is not going to be enough for him," Shearer said.

According to Shearer, another reason why Ten Hag could be sacked by Manchester United is the attitude of the players.

"When you look at the players, when you look at the attitude, where they are in the league and all those things: Where they want to be, where they want to go, in a quick time I think he's already gone," added Shearer.

Shearer's words come in light of Manchester United scraping through a victory in penalties (4-2) in the FA Cup semi-final opposite Coventry City on Sunday night (April 21). The Red Devils are set to face rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final on May 25.

Erik ten Hag had 'mixed feelings' about Manchester United's close win in the FA Cup semi-finals

In his post-match interview, Erik ten Hag said he had mixed feelings about United's victory in the semi-finals of the FA Cup. The United boss was unhappy about the 'the way' the club won but admitted that was a huge performance."

“It’s mixed feelings. The way we did it isn’t OK. We should have managed it better but it’s a huge performance. If you analyze the game we controlled 75 minutes but then allowed them to return into the game. We can be happy with the achievement, getting to the final, that’s huge," said Ten Hag.

Ten Hag feels that United needs to win the final and believes they can do it if they leave it all on the pitch.

“We need to win that final though. When we [are] 100 percent in it, then we can do it," said the United boss.

Manchester United were lucky to scrape through a close victory in the FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City after squandering a three-goal lead in the last 20 minutes of the game.

The Red Devils were leading 3-0 until the 70th minute, with Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes each scoring a goal. However, Coventry made an unexpected comeback in the 71st minute.

They quickly leveled the scores at 3-3, after scoring in the 79th minute and converting a penalty at stoppage time. United managed to secure the victory after winning 4-2 on penalties.
