Lionel Messi's run at Inter Miami

Lionel Messi joined the MLS club in July 2023 and thus could not play the full season, which usually begins in March. However, he still led the Herons to their first-ever trophy, the 2023 Leagues Cup. The Argentine great was named the player of the tournament for his contribution of ten goals in seven games.

This season, Inter Miami and Messi will be hoping to get their hands on the MLS title. They have one of the strongest rosters in the league, boasting the likes of Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Luis Suarez, alongside the star Argentine.

Earlier this year, the World Cup-winning star was nominated for the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year for his first season with Inter Miami. It was his eighth nomination for the prestigious award, with which he equaled golf legend Tiger Woods' record.
